BirdBird follows Carson, a young, cerebral Aboriginal man who navigates his way in and out of the prison system in Western Australia. The story unfolds through the multiple white characters Carson encounters along his journey. The novel stylistically and thematically echoes Irvine Welsh's Trainspotting and some of the early writings of John Dos Passes, portraying a modern world that is simultaneously bleak, comic, and harrowing.
